Step 4
Responsible Self-Talk
- self-talk
- mindset
- emotions
Do not speak to yourself in a way that makes action harder.
This is not about fake affirmations. It is honest, useful self-talk.
Instead of harmful self-talk
- “I’m lazy.”
- “I always ruin everything.”
- “I’m behind forever.”
- “I can’t change.”
Use a Pathlight replacement
- “I am stuck, but I can start small.”
- “I wasted today, but I can still choose my next action.”
- “I am learning discipline.”
- “I am not my worst day.”
- “I can begin again without insulting myself.”
Exercise
- 1Write the sentence you keep saying about yourself.
- 2Ask: does this make action easier or harder?
- 3Replace it with a sentence that is honest but useful.
“I’m so lazy.”
“I’m struggling to start, so I need to make the first step smaller.”
